Who the hell is Death and how does he sleep at night?

Does Death go stalking in the night?
Preying on victims who peacefully sleep
Or is he an angel who gently saves them
from a wretched life and puts them at ease?

I hope it's the latter.

Instead of wanting his repentance,
I should search my heart for acceptance
even if the ones he sentences with his touch
are the ones I love so very much.
